Basic measures to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection

Pandemic Covid-19 has certainly turned our lives upside down. Although it will soon be 2 years since its outbreak, we should still protect ourselves and others with the same care as we did in the beginning. We suggest what basic protective measures each of us should have in place to reduce the risk of infection.

Personal protection

Basic personal protective equipment can protect us from contracting the Covid-19 virus. This is why wearing a mask in crowded public places is so important. It is the least invasive, yet extremely effective way to fight the virus

Why is it so important? Because masks stop the infectious particles we exhale before they get to the environment and the people around us. And we exhale them every time we cough, sneeze, speak or just breathe. Masks also prevent the particles exhaled by others from being inhaled. So they protect not only you, but also others

Remember, however, that it is very important to wear the mask correctly – the one on the chin or covering only the mouth will not help, and you will expose not only yourself but also the people around you to the disease. It is also very important to change the mask regularly (preferably after each use) or to wash it in water with antiviral detergents.

Equally important as masks is keeping your social distance. Avoid crowded places, and if you do find yourself in one, make sure you have extra protection, such as disposable gloves and disinfection with a high alcohol content product.

Basic protective measures in medical facilities

Medical facilities of all kinds are certainly the most vulnerable to the virus. This is why adequate personal protection is so important in these places. Every health care facility should therefore have basic personal protective equipment such as gloves, masks and visors, disposable fleece aprons, three-piece syringes and other items available at

Gloves are one of the most important, if not the most important, element of personal protection in medical facilities, as they protect against both microorganisms and chemical agents. However, it is important that they are made of good quality durable materials such as nitrile, latex or vinyl. Those made of natural rubber will also work well

Masks also play a huge role in medical facilities. Remember, however, that they should be made in accordance with the standards of a three-layer non-woven material, be tested for irritant and allergenic properties and have the highest possible filtration efficiency for bacterial strains.

Disinfection and hand washing

Do not forget the proper disinfection of clothing and surfaces and thorough and careful hand washing. This is extremely important because, according to research, the virus is able to remain in the air for up to 3 hours, on copper surfaces for up to 4, on cardboard for up to one day, and on plastic or stainless steel surfaces for up to 72 hours.
