What tools should you necessarily have at home?

Every homeowner needs to do a bit of work from time to time and fix a few things. Here we can mention, for example, such common problems as leaky taps, crooked cabinets or unstuck moldings.

With the right tools at your disposal in such a situation, you can make your work much easier. From our article you will learn what utensils you should absolutely have at home!

Compile a practical set of tools

What to pay attention to when completing a tool kit? You should start with the basics, i.e. products that every homeowner must have and that can be used for virtually any repair.

Whether you’re moving into a new house or have bought an old one and want to refresh it, you’ll need help with the work. Here are some suggestions to look out for when completing a practical tool kit!

Screwdrivers

There is no shortage of different types of screwdrivers in stores. But which ones are the most important in the context of home repairs? Decide on the popular Phillips screwdrivers. Also add a flat-tip torx and allen screwdriver to the set.

Or you can buy a screwdriver set right away, which will include tools of different sizes, making it easier to match the tool to your needs during the repair. However, this is a more expensive option. Screwdrivers will come in handy during all standard household chores.

Hammer

The toolkit used for home repairs should not lack a hammer. To begin with, a standard variety will suffice, with a smooth surface on one side and a claw on the other. This will allow you to nail and pull out nails during various jobs.

To use the hammer longer, you can opt for a product with a fiberglass or metal handle instead of a wooden one. The aforementioned materials grip better in the hand and do not bruise the skin on it.

Keys

A set should include keys. It is worth diversifying the palette of these tools and include such varieties as allen, open, combination, adjustable or socket wrenches. However, if you don’t want to buy all of them right away, or find that you are unlikely to need them, then opt for only the adjustable and allen types at first.

Are wrenches really necessary? Definitely yes. The allen type can be used for bolting furniture, and the others mentioned for loosening or tightening various nuts and bolts. The adjustable type, on the other hand, is characterized by its versatility due to the fact that you can change its size depending on the size of the nut or bolt you are working with.

Knife

For precise and efficient cutting of various surfaces, you will definitely need a knife. Recommended varieties include the Stanley variety, known for its distinctive retractable blade, as well as the X-acto, suitable for precision cuts.

With these you will be able to easily open a box or any packaging without risking damage to the product inside, cut wires, cables or cut the desired shape in cardboard or Styrofoam.

Flashlight

A flashlight should not be forgotten either. It will come in handy for illuminating dark spaces, such as pipes in the basement, boiler room or when working in the attic. While the flashlight on your phone will be useful for most applications, for more demanding activities you need to choose a more powerful LED flashlight. A headlamp flashlight is worth considering.
