Ideal plants for allergy sufferers

Life for an allergic person is not easy. All the time he has to be careful not to come into contact with allergenic plants. It is especially difficult for people who are allergic to various pollens that appear with the flowering of plants. Unfortunately, going outside in spring and summer can be a nuisance. These people also need to be careful indoors, including potted plants.

Want to grow allergy-safe plants at home? Check out the best species!

Sanseveria

Also commonly referred to as mother-in-law’s tongues/swords or serpentine. In addition to its versatile advantages, such as easy care, resistance to temperature changes, strong sunlight and drought tolerance, sanseveria has the ability to purify the air in the room where it is located. It filters formaldehydes, xylene, ammonia, toulene, benzene, as well as other substances from paint, waterproofing, glue, carpets or smog.

Palm

Palms, like sanseverie, purify the air and improve air quality. The most popular palms for allergy sufferers are areca and chamedora. Palms also raise the humidity level in the room, so they will have a positive effect on the entire respiratory system.

Wingflower

This is a potted plant that probably needs no introduction to anyone. In recent times it has been leading the way in living rooms, along with its companion monster plant. Wingleaf also has the ability to purify the air, specifically from benzene and formaldehydes, which are found in tobacco smoke. It also neutralizes ammonia, acetone and trichloroethylene. It is a flower ideal for taking a place of honor in the living room or bedroom. Sometimes it is also called an air filter directly created for people sensitive to various allergens. It is true that horsetail flowers bloom, however, their flowers have only waxed pollen, not carried in the air, completely indifferent to allergy sufferers.

Zielista

This is another easy-to-grow house flower, ideal for an allergy sufferer’s apartment. It, too, cleanses the air of pollutants and toxins present in paints, for example. In addition, if we take care of it, it will repay us with a beautiful appearance. Herbaceous plants bloom once in a while, so it is worth checking whether their pollen sensitizes us. If so, it will be safer to cut off the forming inflorescences right away.

Aloe vera

In addition to its medicinal benefits, it too is safe for people struggling with allergies. This relatively undemanding in cultivation plant in its thick, fleshy leaves contains flesh with antibacterial, anti-inflammatory or soothing properties. It is excellent for accelerating wound healing or skin revitalization after sunburn.

Geranium

Geranium is a plant that proves that beauty does not always go hand in hand with usefulness. Unfortunately, nature did not endow it with the charms of the other plants in this list, but because of its properties we decided to include it here as well. Geranium has been known for many years for its medicinal properties. Among its benefits are its antibacterial and antiviral properties. Just a few leaves are enough to create an essential infusion or tincture. They will work well for all sorts of skin problems, ear infections, colds or joint pains. Geranium is non-allergenic, and placed on the windowsill it repels mosquitoes, flies and midges.
